LPGA Swinging Skirts Classic.
The name doesn’t mean what you think it does. If it’s the first time you’ve heard the name Swinging Skirts, you might think it’s chauvinistic and be astonished that they would give this name to an LPGA tournament. I know I was. So I did some searching, and I can’t wait to tell you what I found!
The story goes that there was a group of Taiwanese golfers that absolutely loved the game of golf. These men and women met often to play, and soon formed a club. Others started joining. They decided as a nonprofit organization to sponsor a Taiwan LPGA tournament and wanted a catchy name for it.
“Because golf originated in Scotland, and back then they wore kilts, they wanted to honor this tradition,” said Carol Su, managing director/Taiwan for IMG Golf. “That’s how they started to wear kilts and call the group, ‘Swinging Skirts.’ They basically wanted to honor the origins of the game.”

Wow! What an awesome way to honor golf and the ladies by giving the name Swinging Skirts Classic to the tournament that is being played in San Francisco, California for the third year.
A name can mean so much.
A long time ago the name of a person defined the person himself and all of his character. For instance, the name of Jesus. Wonderful Counselor. . . Mighty God. . . Everlasting Father. . . Prince of Peace. . .
These are just a few. Jesus’ name represents all that He is, His entire character. When we pray in the “name” of Jesus we are praying in His authority and according to His will.
You did not choose me,
but I chose you and appointed you
that you should go and bear fruit
and that your fruit should abide,
so that whatever you ask the Father in my NAME,
he may give it to you.”
