3 Easy Ways to Get Motivated

Do You Ever Feel Unmotivated?

Sometimes it’s hard to get motivated.  You can think of 10 different things that you need to do, become overwhelmed, and get nothing done!

Some things are big jobs, some you need the right tool, some you need help.  You try to prioritize.  You try to get one thing done.  But distractions happen, and all you get done is – nothing!

3 Easy Ways to Get Motivated

Good news!  I’ve found 3 easy ways to get motivated.  Whether you’re wanting to clean the basement (yuck), call your grandmother (which you should do), or get better at golf (yes), sometimes it’s easier than you think to get motivated.

  1. MAKE A LIST.   Write down what you want to get done.  Whether it’s one thing,  two things, or ten different things.  Write it down.  Making a physical list that you can mark things off when finished, gives a great sense of accomplishment.  This is good to do every evening before bedtime – simply write out what you need to do the next day.  You will find that you get a better nights sleep when you’re not trying to remember everything to do.
  2. UNPLUG.  You know what I mean.  Turn the television off,  put the laptop down, and leave your phone on the counter.  That’s easy right?  Hahahaha!  I grew up with the tv being on from morning until night.  Electronics are a big distraction.  If you change your routine to completing one of the small jobs on your to-do list before getting on the computer or watching tv, then it becomes a reward.
  3. THROW A PARTY.  What?  You read that right.  I have found that when I have a party planned and guests are coming, I get A LOT accomplished!  It’s the deadline that motivates.  Whether it’s a party or a golf tournament, you need a goal.  Give yourself a specific date to have a task completed and you will definitely get motivated.

BONUS TIP:  Don’t be hard on yourself.  When you have a lot to do, 9 out of 10 things accomplished is just as good as 10 out of 10.   🙂

“For I know the plans I have for you,”

declares the LORD,

“plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

God Bless!
